many mountain bikers savored their first taste of freedom on a bike.
We’re building and improving trails to take riders to an unforgettable new level.
our Mission
Founded in 2014 as a chapter of the International Mountain Biking Association, Silverton Singletrack Society is a non-profit, all-volunteer trail group dedicated to promoting mountain biking in Silverton and San Juan County. We envision Silverton as a world class mountain biking destination and strive toward the following mission:
Promote mountain biking in Silverton by building, improving, and maintaining sustainable mountain bike trails.
Organize events that bring people together to build friendships and community.
Contribute to the economic well being of the Town of Silverton and San Juan County by making mountain biking a significant tourist attraction.
Establish cooperative relationships with other clubs, trail users, and land managers.
Pillars of our mission
-
Promote Mountain Biking & Sustainable Trails
Silverton is known for rugged alpine terrain and deep mining history. But there’s more magic in these mountains beyond the surface level. Most people don’t know that bikes have been in the San Juans since the late 1800’s. Part of our mission is to get the word out and create riding opportunities in the San Juans for riders of all skill levels.
-
Build Community Through events
Bikes are more than a way to get from point A to point B. They become a passion for many riders and create a lifetime of memories and friendships. We bring people together to celebrate these passions and strengthen our community.
-
Contribute to the Local Economy
Mountain bikers are passionate about their sport. That passion encourages investments and group tourism activities that are a sustainable contributor to the economy of Silverton and the surrounding region.
-
Establish Cooperative Relationships
Trails take work from many stakeholders, especially land managers. This is true for trails that have been around for centuries as well as building new trails. We work to maximize cooperation among land managers, other local trail groups, and trail users.
